The Company later expanded by acquiring Galion Iron Works, a maker of roadbuilding machinery. In 1974 the Company sold its operating assets to Dresser Industries.
Lechner teamed up with Joseph Andrew Jeffrey and formed the Lechner Mining Machine Company in 1877. The Lechner coalcutting machine eventually became a standard for the coal industry.
