I did get a small can of Napa (Permatex) greasebased compound but this can was not labeled for grit size. A counterperson looked this up and told me that it was 150 grit...so I bought it and tried it on one (exhaust) valve and my sense is that although it seemed to do a good job, I might want something finer...perhaps on the order of 240 grit or even higher.

#0183;#32;I have always used plain old Permatex Water Mix Valve Grinding Compound from NAPA Item# . Does a nice job especially when I finish it up with a little on a Q tip and highly polish the surfaces afterward.
